History
CALAPIS is an apicultural cooperative founded the 15 of May of 1979
by a group of producers that its presence in means saw essential, had
it counts the development that was taking the activity in the zone and
to the increase from the demands of the heading.
From
always, its main function has been the storing of honey for the obtaining
of exportable volumes. The Cooperative has managed credits for its partners
and served direct, essential for the adapted development of the beekeeping.
The
cooperative and the surroundings
The cooperative makes part of Cooperativa Nacional de Fomento Rural
(CNFR), a second grade association of small and middium size rural producers.
CALAPIS have two representatives in CNFR, excerting at this moment the
Vice-presidency and the National Council.
The
coopertive has relationship with other Institutions like INSTITUTO NACIONAL
DE COLONIZACION (MGAP) and Beekeeper Bank (Intendencia Municipal de
Paysandú) with a common project that makes possible to acced
to a Specialized Sanitary Laboratory and Technical Advisory under the
Cooperative Structure. This project also helped the Instituto Nacional
de Investigaciones Agropecuarias (INIA) with the cession of laboratory
equipment, but also CALAPIS supplied with different honey samples the
investigation.
The
cooperative generated a network of partners and made strategic associations
with other actors, existing contacts, groups of beekeepers and other
cooperatives.
